Stacy’s grandmother, Lillian "Lee" Zeleznik, was a breast cancer and ovarian cancer survivor. She beat breast cancer in 1968 and lived another 40 years. According to Stacy ‘it was very important to my Grandma Lee that my mom and I maintain our breast health and seek preventive treatment. I was in my early 20's when I found the first lump in my breast. Since that time, I have been fortunate to be able to receive regularly and pay for early preventative and diagnostic care’. Last year, another one of Stacy’s family members in her early 40's was diagnosed with breast cancer; she is cancer free now and doing great. On October 22, Stacy turns 40, which is why she has made the commitment this year to accept her Glammy nomination. ‘As I turn 40, my goal is to help provide support to others who do not have the resources that I have been so blessed to have.’
Along with a kind and generous heart, Stacy Schwartz has a legal pedigree that is utterly impressive. She is a loyal University of Florida graduate (Go Gators!) and received her law degree from New York Law School. She is a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP. Stacy’s practice focuses on advising clients on business matters and representing clients in business disputes in state and federal court. Stacy is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator. Prior to entering private practice, she served as an Assistant Attorney General from 2001-2003 in the Civil Litigation Division of the Florida Office of the Attorney General.
Stacy is the recipient of numerous prestigious recognitions from her peers and organizations in the legal profession including the Rising Star designation since 2010 from Florida Super Lawyers Magazine, Top Up and Comer designation from the South Florida Legal Guide in 2015 and 2016. In 2014, she was recognized by the Daily Business Review as one of South Florida's Rising Stars in which the publication selects 40 lawyers under 40. Additionally, Stacy is AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Another proud accomplishment Stacy has achieved is that she is the current President of the Broward County Women Lawyers' Association (“BCWLA”), the Broward County Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and has been on the BCWLA Board since 2010. The member base is comprised of law students, lawyers and judges, with planned activities throughout the year including social events, legal education seminars and community activities.
Stacy is an Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern School of Law. As part of her profession, Stacy is committed to mentoring and teaching young lawyers and law students.
Stacy also volunteers for PACE Center in Broward where she serves as a reading mentor to teenage girls in the community. For the past two years, she has raised funds and gifts for new families participating in the National Adoption Day celebration at the Broward County Courthouse, which occurs each November.
When she’s not working, she enjoys a good spa day and game of fetch with her 7 year old Labrador Retriever, Diesel.
